“Design the true you into the spaces that you breathe.” This hand-painted sign greets shoppers at Urban Abode, a furniture and accessories shop owned by interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo and her husband Mike Magturo. Kristine and Mike encourage their clients to live by these words as they choose from the pieces in this 60sqm store. Mike explains that most of these products are produced locally to promote Filipino craftsmanship.

The space is completed with accessories such as deer antlers from the United States and South Africa, and the best-selling 1940s American vintage shoe lasts. Other popular items are the mango wood hands and the geometric animal trophy heads by Chris Abrigo.

Store Façade

With her experience as an interior designer, Kristine is an expert on designing and manufacturing furniture pieces. Her husband Mike shares that his personal favorite pieces are part of the Viking collection. “We designed the metal framing, added rivets, and distressed the pieces,” he explains.

One of the walls is adorned with framed symbols, antlers, and shoe lasts. A Los Angeles-themed graphic canvas poster, a giant spool table, and ceramic décor pieces complete the corner.

A fully upholstered armchair is placed in front of whitewashed shelves. These shelves are filled with decorative pieces that customers can purchase to spruce up their homes.

Vintage Shoe Lasts

The vintage shoe lasts are flying off the shelves. Mike says, “The shoe lasts can be used as paper weights or can be placed in shadow boxes with mirrors.”
