RL News: #L'indochineLovesAninaRubio
See how Anina’s passion for calligraphy and watercolor painting translated to wonderful fashion and home finds
L’Indochine’s collaborations with local artists have always resulted in stylish picks that are well-received and well-loved. This time around, the spotlight is turned to calligraphy and watercolor artist Anina Rubio. “I got inspiration from my travels within the country. Being a tropical country, we have a lot of botanical stuff. And since I do diving, I got inspiration from the underwater scene, which is very, very colorful, especially because the Philippines is surrounded by rich reefs. Basically that’s my inspiration: nature,” says Anina.
Anina came up with two collections: the Tropics collection and the Underwater collection. The Tropics collection sports a lighter color palette—a seafoam green background that showcases botanical prints that are characteristic of Anina’s brushstrokes.
Meanwhile, the Underwater collection alludes to the sea with its coral reef and seaweed designs on a deep blue background. Both collections consist of notebooks, pencil cases, pouches, travel clutches, and bags. Home items, such as handpainted galvanized buckets, stools, beaded pillow cases, placemats, and framed artwork, also figure in both collections.
Interestingly, Anina doesn’t like receiving flowers and she used to be afraid of the ocean. “But you know, you have to convert your fears into something that is fun and inspirational. So instead of me fearing them forever, it’s a step to conquering [my] fears in the form of art.”
The #LindochineLovesAninaRubio collection is exclusively available at L’Indochine at 4L Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City and at 3/L SM Aura Premier, Taguig City.
