Real Living’s Rachelle Medina talks about RL Space 2014

The magazine’s editor in chief tells us what to expect at this year’s biggest RL event

Q: When was RL Space first launched?

Rachelle: RL Space was first launched in September 2013 at the Trion Towers at Bonifacio Global City to celebrate Real Living’s tenth year and showcase the re-design of the magazine. And just like the first one, the second RL Space will give guests a chance to get decorating and shopping ideas from various building material suppliers and furniture sources.

Q: What makes it different from last year’s event?

A: This year, we’re holding it at the Magnolia Residences in New Manila, Quezon City, and it’s bigger and better than ever! We dressed up five condominium units and one library workshop, and we have a total of eleven designers now: Hannah Acab-Faustino, Kristine Neri-Magturo, Wilmer Lopez, John Vigilia, Vera Villarosa, Ayet San Jose, Kimi Manuel, Ysa Villar and Mark San Diego of Edition Lifestyle, and Charlene Carlos and Leona Panutat of L’Indochine.

Q: What are the highlights of this year’s RL Space?

A: What surprised me is that each unit looks completely different—this is because every designer we chose has their own unique and incredibly distinct look. It’s like the magazine itself—there is no one “correct” look, because there is a look that fits every personality, and every lifestyle. Another amazing thing is that each unit has a different furniture layout based on the designer’s interpretation of the space and its use, and this just shows the versatility of the condo units here at Magnolia.

Q: Will there be live workshops again?

A: Yes, in fact there are more workshops now. Visitors can watch live demos of how to grow succulents, simple printmaking, paper cutting, Christmas ornaments, and other DIY projects. Experts will also be giving out free tips on paint, styling, and even living with pets at home. And all of these are free!

Q: When, where, and how can our readers see and experience RL Space 2014?

A: The RL Space is open to the public from October 25 to October 26, from 10am to 5pm, at the ground and 4th floor of Tower B, Magnolia Residences, N. Domingo St., New Manila, Quezon City.
