Q: I'm renting a studio apartment and I'd like to install a curtain divider between the bed and the living area. However, the landlord won't allow me to drill into the ceiling. Is there a way to install a divider without drilling any holes?—Marishka David

A: You can use two stand-alone posts for the curtain rod if you really want to cover the entire width of your studio. Before you do this, think about how you will use the entire space. Do you really need a curtain or can you settle on a small divider? A folding fabric screen is easy on the eyes and easy to maintain.
