Reader Home: A Black-and-White Studio Apartment in Pasig City
Pau Astilla welcomes us into the space that she decorated and styled on her own
Moving into a bare and empty unit can be overwhelming for any homeowner! When you have an unfurnished space, it can be difficult to furnish and decorate it.
Homeowner Pau Astilla faced this dilemma when she came home to this studio apartment in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City. Since the room did not have any furniture, Pau had to figure out what she could do to maximize the small unit.
The first thing that you see when you enter the studio apartment is a bed with mismatched zebra-print pillows and floral bedsheets.
RL Tip: Using pillows and bedsheets from different sets can help you create an unexpected appeal! Just stick to the same color palette for a cohesive look.
This picture gives us a better view of the home's layout. Since this is a studio unit, the mini living area, dining area, and sleeping area can be found in the same space.
The living area can be found right next to the bed. Instead of putting up a screen or a divider, Pau defined the space with a black-and-white area rug.
Across the bed is the modest kitchen and dining area. Pau defined the dining area with a black wall clock and a black-and-white curtain.
RL Tip: If you don't have space for walls or partitions, putting up a curtain is another way to define an area in a shared space.
The dining area is furnished with a simple dining table surrounded by three dining chairs.
In this home, the kitchen needs the most attention. We would recommend a sleek dish rack and a bar trolley that can easily be moved around the studio apartment.
