Must-See: A Breathtaking Indoor Garden In A 110sqm Apartment
This model has managed to fit 500+ green wonders in her NY flat!
When you live in the city, it can be a challenge to grow a garden—especially if you're staying at a high-rise property. While the limited space holds some homeowners back, there are those who refuse to give up on their indoor garden dreams, and that includes Summer Rayen Oakes.
A model and an environmental activist, Summer has found a way to incorporate lush greenery into her 110sqm Brooklyn apartment. A graduate of Environmental Science and Entomology from Cornell University, she shares that her love for gardening and agriculture is rooted in her childhood when she lived in a five-acre farm in Pennsylvania.
Naturally, she wanted to add touches of green to her haven so she bought a four-feet tall fig tree thinking it would end there. At present, she now tends to over 500 plant varieties that comprise of different—both edible and inedible—herbs, plants, and ivies.
These plants can be found in the bathroom, living area, kitchen, on the floor, hanging from the ceiling, her bedroom, and even in her mini-greenhouse! All these are possible with the help of a built-in sub-irrigation system, vermiculture kit, lighting system, composting bin, and of course, loads of TLC.
