Can you imagine living in a place where the ceiling is left open? A lot of homeowners would probably think it's highly impractical. However, for architect Takeshi Hosaka and wife Megumi, it's all about embracing the beauty of nature—even when they are inside their home. 

During the day, the big tree in the corner of the house casts a pretty shadow from the sun while at night, ambient lighting is provided by the moon. There are no walls separating the home from the elements—even birds and rain are welcome indoors—except for a sliding glass panel that keeps them from freezing during the winter.
