Whether it’s about a group of selected people living in a house for a hundred days or talented individuals vying for the ultimate performer title—we’ve all seen our fair share of reality shows. This March, another show is set to leave a mark as The Apartment: Rising Stars Edition premieres on the Sony Channel on March 16, Thursday at 7:55 p.m.

Hosted by Jamie Durie, a well-known landscape designer, the show will feature 12 contestants from different countries as they go through tough design challenges. Aside from walking away with the grand prize, the winner will also be known as the next big thing in the field of design. While we’re all looking forward to the intense episodes, it’s good to know that one of the contestants is from the Philippines, too!

32-year old Natalya Punto, a radio DJ for Wave 89.1, is also a freelance designer who has worked on model townhouses and units. When not busy with her radio duties and design projects, Naya also hosts events and does voice overs for commercials.

She will be competing against representatives from Thailand, Singapore, China, and Australia, to name a few. Armed with a street-wise style, a natural talent for design, and her love for urban culture, she is set to conquer The Apartment. Here are five more things you need to know about Naya:

Her interest in design started when she was only 12-years-old.

"I was allowed to redesign and decorate my room as I wished. My parents gave me free range to do as I pleased with my space. The positive reactions I received from my friends as well as my parents on the final outcomes of all my designs helped confirm that I had a natural talent for this, [drawing] me closer to my passion."

She has worked on a few units up on AirBNB.

"Some of the projects that I have designed have been condo units for AirBnB rentals and model townhomes for viewing purposes. My favorites are usually the ones that have a smaller budget and ones that allow me to reconstruct old furniture they've already had in the space. This makes the creative process for decorating a lot more challenging and helps me come up with new ideas."

Her favorite area in the house is the living area.

"It's a space where I can just take in the views of the city (I have a corner unit with floor-to-ceiling windows) to relax and chill."

She likes to keep things simple.

Her favorite object on her night table is her Dyptique candle (candles are her favorite home accessories!), while her favorite color combination is black-and-white.

She’d like to advise those who want to pursue and dabble into design to just go for it.

"I guess it's a tip that I follow since I really don't have any 'formal' training. Follow your heart and get inspired. Stay true to who you are and your own style and the rest will follow."

The Apartment: Rising Stars Edition also features an esteemed panel of judgesworld-renowned interior designer Laurence-Llewelyn Bowen, U.S television personality and home product designer, Genevieve Gorder, and host Jamie Durie, also an award-winning hotel and furniture designer.
