Some say that if a garden is a show, the focal point is the main act. It can be something as simple as a boulder or an eye-catching shrub, but it can also be a complex mix of several types of foliage. If you want to learn how you can spruce up your outdoor space without spending a lot, check out this easy-to-follow step-by-step guide:

1. Find the right spot for setting up for the focal point.

Before moving clay pots and outdoor furniture, decide where you want your focal point to be. Consider choosing an area which people frequent so it can be viewed and appreciated. For those who are working with a smaller garden, try utilizing an empty corner as two converging walls can direct the eyes toward a single point.

2. Find a purpose for the area.

When styling a space, it should always be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. If your display is just easy on the eyes, people won't pay attention to it after a while. Keep it a special part of your home by turning it into a cozy hangout—adding a few lounge chairs, pillows, and lamps would do the trick.

3. Complement it with surrounding green wonders.

To elevate the beauty of your focal point, try arranging the rest of the garden in a way that draws focus to your masterpiece. Using different heights of plants that look uniform in terms of color and texture helps a lot.

4. Don't forget to add finishing touches.

Similar to decorating the living area or bedroom, you need to add accent pieces to finalize the look. Experiment with using plants that have bigger leaves and brighter colors in the center of your display to make it stand out or adding pavers to add contrast to the green backdrop.
