Lovely and Creative Ideas For Your Staircase

Jazz up your stairs and showcase your personality!

You go up and down the stairs if you have a loft or if you live in a multi-storey house, but have you put some thought into how it looks like? Sure, it is utilitarian in nature, but it can benefit from a few stylish elements. Make your own flight of steps more fun with these ideas:

1. Create a stylish vignette on your stairs landing.

Why leave it blank when you can spruce it up? Take a cue from this home. A vintage wooden chair rests on the landing and add a warm, homey feel to it. A wall print updates the look of the vignette. Find a similar pillow at SM Home.

2. Turn your stairs into storage.

Interior designer Joy Jabile-Ejercito had bespoke storage made for her rolls of design plans. The cubby holes measure exactly as the length of the rolls, making for perfect storage spots.

3. Paint quirky details.

Interior designer Evangeline Lim painted chevron patterns and numbers on the stairs in a house in Laguna. These details make the stairs look funky and exude character.

4. Go for an unconventional design.

Homeowner Mitch Shivers made the stairs keep to the industrial theme of his house. Cantilevered steps are supported by metal brackets that are attached to the wooden treads. The stairs certainly make for an eye-catching—even breathtaking—element in the house.

5. Extend it to form a table.

Squeeze in a working nook at the side of your staircase and make the desk look like it's also part of the stairs. This idea can work well in industrial-style spaces, especially with the metal brackets used in lieu of conventional stair railings.
