LOOK: Cool, Rustic Gift Ideas From Urban Abode

Our favorite rustic-industrial store Urban Abode just reopened in a bigger space right next to their former showroom at CW Home Depot Ortigas. Interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo and her husband Michael Magturo—who is in charge of business operations—continue to showcase their custom-made furniture pieces alongside other designer accessories that meet their “warm industrial-meets-rustic-chic” aesthetic in this delightful new store.

The 60-sqm store, located in the former space of the restaurant Casa Marcos, exudes a casual-industrial vibe with its nostalgic murals, distressed-finish concrete, and brick walls (the walls are part of Casa Marcos’s brick oven). But the stars of the showroom are the furniture and décor, of course. Here are some of the pieces you can find that would make great Christmas gifts for friends or for yourself!

Modern Christmas Trees.

The Urban Abode Christmas tree has become a popular alternative to the traditional pine tree because its simple form goes well with ultra-modern interiors, Scandinavian houses, and condo homes. The “branches” fold flat for storage. Comes in different colors, from P3,900 and up.

Modern Tree Ornaments.

Of course, what’s a modern Christmas tree without a modern tree ornament? These tree baubles, made out of painted wood, will also look great with traditional pine trees. A set of ornaments costs P900.

Up-cycled Belen.

Other unusual Christmas decorations that will still look good well past the holidays: “Holy Family Found” belen sculptures that are a modern take on the traditional nativity scene (P4,000 to P5,000). These are by the popular upcycled furniture store Resurrection Furniture and Found Objects Gallery.

Flour Sack Pillowcases.

Complete the rustic-modern look of your home by getting these charming pillowcases made out of printed flour sacks; they’re a steal at P600 each (add P300 for the pillow filler).

Various Side Tables.

Also on our shopping list—these wood-and-metal, space-saving side tables, which have room underneath for extra knick-knacks. Prices available upon request.

Vintage-Style Accessories and Prints.

A visit to Urban Abode wouldn’t be complete without snapping up some of their rustic-industrial accessories, like these framed prints, vintage shoe lasts and factory lights, bouy and artichoke doorstoppers, and more. From P800 and up.
