Jumpstart Your Day: Take a Peek Inside Airbnb's Most Popular Rental
So popular you’d have to book 5 to 6 months in advance!
Kitty and Michael Mrache’s cabin in Aptos, California currently enjoys the number one spot on Airbnb’s website, and if you’re an Airbnb enthusiast (or if you're planning to go to Aptos soon), you might want to check it out—if you’re lucky enough to get on the waiting list, that is.
Curious already? We checked out the space's listing and learned a couple of details about the famous Mushroom Dome Cabin:
Nestled on ten acres of land, nature buffs can hike in the woods, go to the nearest beach, or just chill on the deck. Coined as the “mushroom dome” because of its geodesic dome, you can see the stars during clear nights, and the view outside directly from your loft’s futon.
Idea to Steal: If you have a small attic, a futon will do wonders in terms of saving space. Pick out a comfortable one and pair it with soft sheets. It also pays to maximize the window so that you can wake up to sunlight and feel refreshed.
On the first level of the cabin, which has a pentagon-shaped base, is a long couch that can double as a single bed and a folding table that can be tucked away to the side if not in use.
Recreate this in your studio unit by choosing double-duty furniture or asking your carpenter if he can customize a piece for you.
The mini kitchen just takes up about more than half of one of the cabin’s walls, but it’s very functional and complete with all the appliances you would need. It even has a popcorn maker! On the side is the bathroom, complete with a composting toilet, a large sink, and a shower. The big window and mirrors make the small space look bigger.
RL Tip: If you would like to have a window in the kitchen but there’s no provision for one, choose a perfect sized mirror in its stead. This can make it feel like you have a window even if you don’t.
