Jumpstart Your Day: 5 Lovely Summer-Inspired Living Rooms

Be inspired to bring a bit of the sun into your home

The heat can be unbearable these days—many of us would rather stay at home than venture out. But instead of dwelling on how hot days can be difficult, we can use the season as inspiration to redecorate and give the home a new look. Start with the living area and get ready for a burst of color!

Be reminded of the sea by adding touches of aqua blue. Use the color for your curtains, pillows, or an accent chair. If aqua is a bit too bright, you can use it as a wall accent instead in the form of a painting.

RL Tip: Make the color stand out by using it against white walls.

I love how different perky colors come together to create this youthful space. To avoid a clash of shades, choose ones that complement each other. Your sofa can be in a neutral tone as well to balance out the colors. Keep the space open and airy by maximizing natural light.

Achieving a summer-inspired home doesn't have to mean working only with solid colors or huge pieces of furniture in vibrant shades. Inject fun into your home by dotting it with charming accessories like a seafoam-colored lamp and an area rug with colorful geometric shapes.

Feel the vibe of nature by working with shades of green. As an alternative to adding plants as part of your coffee table centerpiece, you can liven up plain walls with apple green patterns. Create an accent wall or use washi tape to decorate one wall.

If your living room has a huge window, keep it open to let sunshine into the space. Dress it up with floor-to-ceiling curtains to create an illusion of height.

Earth tones can easily remind you of a beach getaway. Pair shades of brown, green, and white when choosing furnishings and accessories. Complete the look with wooden pieces and a big potted plant.

RL Tip: If you are styling an outdoor living area, add huge floor pillows as extra seating pieces. You can also work with a banig in lieu of an area rug.
