Jumpstart Your Day: 3 Ways to Declutter and Style a Small Bedroom
Architect Ivy Tablante-Darilag shares a list of easy must-dos
Having a small bedroom brings a couple of challenges: how can you sleep and relax comfortably given the cramped space? Can you store all of your belongings there? While there are many ways to maximize a small bedroom, here are three basic tips from Architect Ivy Tablante-Darilag.
- Prioritize storage
It is inevitable that over time, you will accumulate too many stuff then don't have enough space where you can store it. "The first thing you have to think about is how to store things in such a way na it'll look coordinated pa rin," Ivy shares.
- Avoid freestanding storage solutions
"Everything has to be built-in since it's a small space. If it's a bigger space, you can go for freestanding pieces. Pag condos, makakatulong talaga pag built-in."
- Play it safe with neutrals
If by any chance you're sharing the small bedroom with a sibling or roommate, you can never go wrong with neutrals. "You can't go wrong with earth tones, then green—very unisex na color. When you say earth tone, yung what you really see sa earth—blue skies, green, you can't go wrong with those. Try to avoid using strong colors like fuchsia or red. You can use them for smaller items like throw pillows and small bottles. For larger surfaces and stuff, better leave them in a neutral palette," Ivy explains.
