Whether it’s a small project or a major overhaul, working on a home requires finalizing a budget. Your allotted budget needs to cover materials, labor, and having a contingency fund for unexpected adjustments and bumps along the way. If you’re thinking of renovating your house anytime soon, interior designer Vera Villarosa-Orila shares helpful insights you may find useful:

Q: Is it possible to renovate a house with a budget of P100, 000? To what extent of renovation can that amount cover?

A: This will actually depend on how big and how old your house is. For smaller houses (around 80sqm to 100sqm), this could probably cover basic electrical works, like additional outlets, changing and adding light fixtures, painting works for walls and ceiling, and basic carpentry works for additional shelves and a study table.

Renovations for kitchen and bathroom are another thing, especially if you are having trouble with plumbing and if you want to retile and replace a lot of cabinets. This is assuming that you will outsource the workers and buy materials on your own, as hiring a professional will entail additional expenses that will cover professional fees.
