4 Ways to Make Guests Comfortable at Home–Even Without a Guest Room
Create an efficient space where they can rest and relax
The holiday season allows us to spend time with friends and relatives who live abroad or in the province. If you think about it, it's only during Christmas when we can all gather to catch up and share stories.
To make the most of this time, we open our homes to guests and invite them to stay over the holidays. But what if you don't have an extra room where they can stay? The best solution would be to maximize the living area–especially in small spaces where the floor area is limited. Keep in mind these ideas and transform the space that you can spare:
Bring out the sofa bed
The living area can serve as a makeshift bedroom–especially in studio and one-bedroom units. A sofa bed or daybed may come in handy as they can relax there at night and it can also accommodate more guests in the morning. Just prepare extra pillows and throws to liven it up.
Make use of corners
We don't want to welcome guests into the home with tons of bags and heavy luggage blocking the entryway! If there's an extra space in your closet, you may store the bags there. You can also assign a luggage station where they can keep their things–a corner or concealed space is ideal for storing bags.
To make their stay memorable, don't forget to prepare fresh towels and sheets that they can use.
Organize your space
Keep your space open and airy by rethinking the pieces that you have at home. If you think that a chair is blocking the way or a table is unnecessary, you may choose to move or keep it in the bedroom for now. Hide eyesores and make sure that everything is in its place to avoid a cramped space.
