How Do You Clean Your Cleaning Tools?

Having the right cleaning tools is essential in keeping the home spotless. However, it is important to note these tools need to be kept clean and bacteria-free, too!

Since sponges, mops, and other must-haves deal with tough dirt and stains, bacteria may develop in these items. Here are a few ways to help you clean your cleaning tools.

Mop

The best way to keep hallway, kitchen, and bathroom floors clean is through effective mopping. To maintain your mop head, clean out the dirt by soaking it in hot water mixed with one cup of vinegar. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes before air-drying.

Sponge

Eliminate food residue and germs in your sponge by disinfecting it! After washing your dishes, place your damp sponge inside the microwave then turn the timer to one minute. After the minute is up, wipe off the steam inside the microwave then store the sponge in a clean and dry place.

Broom

After sweeping your floors, you must not forget to sanitize your broom. Start by wiping the handle with a damp cloth then cleaning the bristles by placing it in warm water mixed with baking soda. Drain the water then let it dry outdoors.

Toilet Brush

Remember to clean your toilet brush at least once a month. After cleaning your toilet bowl, pour some bleach then soak your toilet brush for about 20-30 minutes. Once done, wipe the handle using a damp cloth and a homemade vinegar solution.

Rags

Kitchen rags must be replaced and washed weekly. Soak it in warm water mixed with a cup of vinegar. Let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes before leaving it to dry outdoors.
