Whether you go to the office six days a week or you work from home, let's face it—cleaning the house everyday is impossible. It takes a lot of energy and elbow grease to be able to do it and sometimes, we are just too tired to do it after a long day. To help you reach your designated tidy-up day (aka the weekend) without making your humble abode look like an episode of Clean House, here are some ideas you can try:

1. Set up a tuck-away spot for miscellaneous items

Allow yourself to have one drawer, bin or box at home where you can stash away anything that makes your space look messy. This is a great spot to keep orphaned socks until you find the other pair, lost hair ties for backup and spare chargers for your phones.

RL Tip: Make sure to clean your tuck-away spot once a month to keep it from being too cluttered. You might be accidentally keeping trash in it without noticing.

2. Speed clean with a basket in hand

Don't you just hate hosting guests at the last minute? If you need to tidy up in less than fifteen minutes, corral any random loose items and clutter into baskets. Go through all the rooms in your house one at a time and hide anything that isn't visually appealing. Don't forget to return everything you've collected to their proper place once everyone has left.

3. Hang it on hooks

Instead of dumping fresh laundry to a chair, try hanging them up on hooks until you find time to fold them—this can instantly make any space look neat and put together. You can also put up hats, purses or anything that is causing clutter in your home.

4. Minimize the empty horizontal space

If you have nowhere to put it down, you'd have no reason not to return it to its proper spot. Having a lot of surfaces to park things we use daily is a clutter crutch—get rid of these dead spaces by filling it up with decor pieces that can also amp up the style of the room.

5. Fluff the pillows

Believe it or not, something as simple as fluffing the throw pillows in your living room can breathe life into a dull space. Flat headrests give the impression that a place is tired, lived-in and not taken care of so it's important to keep everything looking fresh.
