Enter Miniso or any other Japanese discount store and your P100 impulse shopping budget will eventually balloon to P1,000—or more! Miniso recently opened its latest branch at the second floor of SM Megamall, and we know that more people will be flocking to it for cute finds.

But before you buy yet another pink makeup brush or a pair of panda bedroom slippers, perhaps you’d want to shell out a bit for useful household pieces and home accessories. Their home items are not only affordable, but of good quality too (a far cry from those flimsy bangketa buys). Here are the items you should look out for:

BELOW P300

Fabric storage boxes and hanging shoe racks

The sizes are perfect for tiny condo closets, and the colors are better than your basic beige or white. From P299

Alarm clocks

Your cellphone probably has an alarm, but these stylish, modern alarm clocks are better to look at than a message-filled phone. P299

Vacuum jugs

We love these jugs that look like those classic Stelton jugs by Scandi designer Erik Magnussen, but in lovely Millennial colors (and at a fraction of the price). There are also glass teapot-and-cups sets that sell for the same price. P299

Microwaveable food containers

These are made out of glass, thus making it more eco-friendly, and nicer to look at than plastic containers. P299

BELOW P200

Christmas décor

If you’re doing your Christmas shopping already, might as well shop for the décor, too! These Christmas ball sets are timeless. Christmas Ball Sets, Plushies, P199 each

Neck pillows

Miniso’s classic travel pillows now come in more subdued colors and graphic prints—so you won’t look like you’re wearing a bear on your neck. P199 each

Covered mugs

We think these covered mugs (with spoon and lid) make great monito-monita gifts.

Here’s a closer look. So cute! P199 each

BELOW P100

Small mugs

These don’t have lids, but we are loving the animal prints and graphic designs. Great as gifts, too. P99 each

Rice bowls

The no-frills design and all-white palette give these dinnerware pieces a Muji-feel. Rice Bowls, Ladles, P99 each

Plastic bins

These sturdy plastic bins come in juicy, fun colors of tangerine, fuchsia, and lime green, plus these have lids, too. Color-code the bins for storage in your family room. P99 each

Frog soap container

There are lots of home items for kids in Miniso, like these suction-cup frog soap holders that can easily attach onto bathroom tiles. P99 each

Mr. & Mrs. Toothbrush holders

Want to keep your toothbrushes protected with a sense of humor? Get yourself these his-and-hers toothbrush holders—there’s a senior citizen version, too! P99 for a set of 2

Office supplies

Washi tapes, bullclips, staplers, and other office essentials go for less than a hundred, and come in whimsical hues, too. P99 and below

Polka dot hooks

These are like those adhesive hooks, but with a bit more flair. The polka dot version comes in three colorways, and there are animal hooks for kids’ rooms, too. P99 for a set of 3

BELOW P50

Gift-wrapping paper

If you’re done Christmas shopping, then go ahead and buy your gift-wrapping paper. These come in modern but fun designs. P49 for a pack of 3

Visit the new Miniso at 2/f SM Megamall Bldg. A, EDSA, Mandaluyong City. Or go to their Facebook page to check out the other branches.
