Transferring to a new place? While it is exciting, it can also be overwhelming, what with all the furniture and personal belongings you need to sort, unpack, and pack once you've moved in. To help you in your journey, interior designer Carlo Martin Mecate shares tips on how to deal with this daunting task.

Enumerate all the items you have.

Before moving into your new home, make sure to make an inventory of all the things you own to keep track of them. This can also help you easily check if anything got lost in the move. Before pa sila mag-move, naka-allocate na saan mapupunta lahat ng items para hind magulo pag nag-move in, ” the designer shares.

Plan everything and create moodboards as guide.

“Color schemes, lahat naka-moodboard sila. Per room ako nag-moodboard," adds Carlo. Bring Pinterest to life and create sketches and pegs for your new home. This will help you visualize how you want it to look like without the hassle of continuously moving things around.

Draw the layout.

Edit as you go.

You don't have to keep everything you brought in your new home. If you think something doesn't fit anymore, feel free to give it to someone who can enjoy the decor pieces more. “Trial and error talaga siya. Ako minsan, may one day, may kine-carry lang ako isang item.
