Soap is a necessity in every household—we use it to wash our hands or faces and to get our body squeaky clean after a long day out in the sun. Right now, you might be wondering why you have to go through the trouble of making your own when you can easily buy it at a supermarket. The answer? Getting direct control over the ingredients.

This tea tree oil soap recipe does not use any chemicals or artificial scents. It has purifying and antibacterial properties that can help soothe burns or blemishes and can even act as a deodorizer for your hands after cooking. As it is also a natural antiseptic, it can also rid your skin of bacteria and potential allergens before it even starts.

Excited to try it for yourself? Check out our step-by-step guide below:

What you need:

How-to:

1. Using a double broiler, heat the glycerine base until it is completely melted. Keep the temperature as low as possible to keep base from getting mushy.

2. Turn off the heat and start pouring in the tea tree oil. Mix well.

3. Pour mixture into a mold. It is up to you if you want to make a big bar and slice it afterwards or use old baking trays to create smaller cubes.

4. Keep everything in a sealed container to keep glycerin from attracting moisture as humidity causes the soap to melt faster.

RL Tip: Add in a few drops of lavender essential oil for a sweeter scent!
