DIY: Blackout Curtains
Create a distinct cozy vibe in your bedroom with this easy project
How do you spend your weekends? While there are some who declutter, take part in different activities, and work on a couple of DIY projects, there are some who prefer to stay in the bedroom to catch up on sleep. If you're looking forward to an uninterrupted slumber, we're sure that you would want to keep your room cozy and relaxing as much as possible.
Those who prefer a dark room when sleeping can create their own blackout curtains. "Blackout curtains are used to control lighting in the bedroom—especially if you want zero light in your room," shares curtain and furniture maker Jovi Romero.
If you're thinking of crafting one for your space, here's a quick step-by-step guide that you can follow.

- Polyester Blackout Lining
- Curtain Fabric
- Velcro strips
- Sew the blackout lining directly onto the main fabric but make separate hemlines for a relaxed flow.
- Once done, sew the lining and fabric separately with small grommets on top for the curtain rod. Attach the Velcro strips so you can attach the lining to it.
- You may also attach Velco strips on the header and on the sides of the two to hold it together.
