Cleaning wipes are a fantastic thing to have at home—they save you the trouble of having to use and wash rags since all you have to do after wiping down spills is to chuck them in the bin. As convenient as it is, have you ever thought about how much waste you accumulate just by using disposable antibacterial sheets? Lessen your carbon footprint (and maybe save a few bucks in the process!) by making your own stash of wipes that can power through any mess. Check out our step-by-step guide below:

What you need:

  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup with vinegar
  • 8 drops of tea tree oil
  • 8 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
  • 8 drops of lemon essential oil
  • a sealed container (You can use recycled baby wipes containers and mason jars.)
  • 15-20 squares of cloth (Old t-shirts, dish towels or washcloths work well.)

How-to:

  • Empty out and clean your wipe container.
  • Cut out 15 to 20 squares of cloth with a sharp pair of scissors.
  • Fold each piece and place them in the empty wipe container. Set aside.
  • Combine the water, vinegar and essential oils in a mixing bowl. Stir well.
  • Pour the mixture over the pieces of cloth in the container and leave it to soak.
  • Pull out the wipes to disinfect kitchen counters, table surfaces, and even the sink!

RL Tip: Feel free to wash your reusable wipes once soiled and repeat the process as long as it still holds up.
