Display Dilemma

Q: I want to display my photos on the wall of my bachelor's pad. These photos are mainly black and white panoramic shots.  Kindly give suggestions on the materials that I should use. - Rommel Pentinio

A: The best way to display your photos would be to frame them with a white matting about 4” to 6” thick and line them up against the wall.  Different sizes are also nice.

Home Improvement

Q: This year will be my “Home Decorating Year”!  We've just moved to our new home but the place still lacks a complete look.  I hired an interior decorator for the technicalities but our tastes clashed so much I ended up just putting my hands up in the air.  I kept showing her my Ikea catalogs and it seems she loved dark wood so much she darkened!  I specifically told her that I do not like dark wood.

 My questions are as follows:

1. Can a room look stylish with wooden blinds?  Is it better than curtains?  My son and I have sinusitis and maybe getting rid of the curtains will help clear the air?

2. Is it possible to have two kinds of window treatments in the same room (such as a small rectangular master bedroom)? The windows are on walls adjacent to each other.  A big mistake was that the contractor put the windows so close to the ceiling leaving almost no allowance for rods.  The allowance from ceiling to window is only 6" and my interior decorator added 4" of moldings.

A: Wooden blinds are a good alternative to curtains because they are easy to clean and last longer. However, since you mentioned that you don't like dark wood, you can try mechoshades.  They look very clean and uncluttered.  Mechoshades are available at Expert Interiors.  You can reach them at (02) 715-5918 and 713-4380. The mechoshades will bring in light while giving you privacy for they come in cream and white colors.
