Limit the Exposure

Q: Whenever I open the door to my studio unit (it's 24.1 sqm with a rectangular shape) I see everything all at once, from the bathroom door, to the kitchen table, down to the bedroom wall. It's so exposed. I want a bit of mystery and privacy so that when friends visit, they won't see the entire unit from the entrance hall. Any suggestions? - Tristan Antonio

A: Choose a tall shelf that will keep your belongings organized, display decorative items, and also divide the space into different areas.

Frosted Glass

Q: In your "Room for More" article (May 2005) you mentioned about the frosted glass door for cabinets (these were cabinets with frameless glass doors). I would just like to know where can I buy/order them? I'm moving to a brand new apartment and I would like to have those for my cabinets. Thank you very much.- Cecile Solis, Sampaloc City

A: Cabinets receive the most punishment due to their storage capabilities.  Therefore, I always believe in wise investments for cabinetry. There are a number of cabinets with different glass doors that can be made.  You can opt for different colors for glass, opaque, or translucent glass; frameless, wood frame, aluminum frame, you name it.  You can have them especially made and suited to your space from a lot of kitchen makers.  Try V. Roque Woodworks (02) 844-3631 for cabinet construction of any type.  For just the door face in glass, try Lexton Hardware (02) 366-3641.  For glass supply, call Pacific Glass (02) 631-8221.  You can also have your finishing contractor help you out.
