Myth No. 6: Hiring an interior designer is unnecessary.

It’s easy to get inspiration for your dream home, since there are a lot of decorating blogs and magazines out there. But these ideas can get overwhelming, and that’s where professionals come in. The interior designer holds the job of simplifying and explaining the most feasible options, especially when the technical jargon is overwhelming.

“With the vast resources made available to us at this day and age, it is inevitable for the client to feel confused and to want all the ideas incorporated in the design of his dream home,” says Pam. “An interior designer will help you narrow down your choices and avoid ill-coordinated material finishes, furniture, and accessories. This also minimizes construction costs that a client will not have foreseen if he didn’t hire an interior designer.”

THE BOTTOM LINE: KNOW WHEN TO GO PRO AND WHEN TO D.I.Y.
