Myth No. 2: You need to follow color schemes based on color theory.

“Complementary, analogous, double complementary, etc. There are so many combinations of colors that can work,” says Tess Quevedo, interior designer and professor at the College of Home Economics in the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

“This is possible because materials, finishes, treatments, and decorative accessories come in a wide range of colors. It is just a matter of knowing what color shades and tints to use, and how to apply them in a room. Even theory-based color schemes only work if you know how to apply them.”

THE BOTTOM LINE: USE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU VISUALLY.
