“It’s a myth to think that people have to follow templates when it comes to furniture, meaning, they have to provide standard furniture pieces for certain rooms just because it has always been done that way,” explains the professor.
“There’s no point in having these pieces if they don’t really serve any purpose at all,” she adds. Here's a tip, matching sets of side tables and coffee tables tend to make the space look dated—go for mismatched tables in different styles and finishes.
