Building 101: Different Wood Stains

Enhance the natural beauty of wood by applying oil-based stains

Wood stains lend a certain wood tone to an otherwise plain piece of lumber. It also adds a protective film similar to that of clear varnish. You can opt for a half tone or a full color of the stain depending on your taste. Use these on cabinets, paneling, and furniture.

Production by Paula de Guzman and Tala Singson. Photographed by Louie Aguinaldo, Vincent Coscolluela, and Miguel Nacianceno.
