With inspiration right at their fingertips—from websites, blogs, and magazines, homeowners may find it easy to define the look of their spaces. Over the years, we've seen the rise of the industrial style, the emergence of the country and rustic-inspired details, and of course, the increasing popularity of the tropical look.

Since we all want to achieve a unique home, many of us have started combining styles and experimenting with colors and accessories. If you are one of the many who love a contemporary touch and the calming ambiance of a tropical-inspired home, you may want to consider going for the organic modern style. This look combines sleek details and inviting warmth. To help you get started, interior designer Rochelle Granali shares these tips:

Create an accent wall

We're used to seeing wallpaper and wall decals as an accent wall, but with the organic modern look, you can play with texture. Consider working with materials that have a natural feel such as stone or brick cladding. Any of these can given your space an elegant yet warm appeal.

Bring in the natural light

Big windows that let the sunlight in can make your space bright and airy. Natural light is still the best way to make the colors and textures of your home to pop.

RL Tip: If you are working on the kitchen, consider adding accent lighting for added warmth.

Use scraps of wood

Working with wood as part of your interiors is one of the easiest ways to create an organic vibe at home. From flooring to decor, wood is a sustainable addition to your space. Those who want something special can also use reclaimed wood planks in different cuts. Create an accent wall in the living area using these pieces of wood and go for a distressed paint finish to achieve a modern style.

RL Tip: The use of raw elements such as rough-hewn wooden beams will also look good in organic-inspired interiors.
