An RL Reader's Garden Surrounding a 50sqm House in Bulacan
RL Reader Lorena Serapio shows us her modest yet beautiful outdoor space
Almost a year ago, we featured the home of Real Living reader Lorena Serapio! We loved her tiny but interesting house filled with rustic wooden furniture, charming owl decor, dainty teacups, and small cacti and succulents.
Today, we feature the rest of her personal sanctuary — her simple yet well-loved garden!
The bare concrete steps that lead from the house to the garden are adorned with leafy ferns and snake plants.
Near the concrete steps is a Yucca tree, a plant that can thrive in a tropical country.
This corner of the garden is marked with a tree draped with different hanging plants. Beside it is a round side table and a plain wooden bench.
This humble concrete wall is brightened up with hanging aspleniums or dapo plants.
Lorena shares that the white garden chairs are her latest secondhand shop finds! You can also spot outdoor furniture at secondhand shops, thrift stores, and garage sales.
Behind the garden chairs is a 30-year old narra tree.
In between the two garden chairs is a 50-year old tapayan from Lorena's friend in Batangas.
On the other side of the garden is another tapayan — a 90-year old water jar from an ancestral house in Bulacan!
A blooming yellow orchid rests on a vintage table made from a steel drum cover.
The outdoor area is completed with a white garden set. This spot is ideal for enjoying the cool morning breeze and a cup or two of freshly brewed coffee.
