8 Must-Visit Restos for V-Day
We rounded up the restaurants that will excite not just your palate but also your design sensibilities
Whether you have a significant other or are planning to hang out with fellow singletons on hearts' day this year, these must-visit places should be on your list not only for the delightful Valentine offerings but also for the restos’ interesting interior and exterior settings.
It’s not exactly new (a decade old, in fact), but this gem of a resto owned by Chef Nino Laus has romantic vignettes setup both indoors and outdoors (in private gazebos), as if there’s a wedding proposal, anniversary, or a special date to celebrate.
Thanks to its vast space, Ninyo Fusion Cuisine & Wine Lounge has a lot of lush green around which complements the wooden garden furniture and flowy drapes. This Valentine’s Day, the set menu takes you across the continents from appetizer to dessert.

Character is what a 30-year-old restaurant like Café Ysabel has. Long considered as a cultural and architectural landmark in Metro Manila, the restaurant has interiors that take you back to the 1920s. Think wooden ceiling fans, ornate ceilings, a porch enclosed in glass, not to mention that famous doorway entrance that has served as backdrop for many a wedding photos.
You and your Valentine date will be spoilt for choice as Café Ysabel offers an impressive fish-or-steak set menu, a slightly less formal al fresco set menu, and a selection of a la carte dishes if you’d like to create your own set.
- 455 P. Guevarra Street, San Juan City
- Tel. No. 726-9326 or 725-5089

Veering from the intricate details of Café Ysabel’s interiors, Gino and Gianna Gonzalez (children of Café Ysabel’s Gene Gonzalez) decided to make Buenisimo minimalist and modern but just as elegant. Leather seats provide comfy seating, while the dark finish on the furniture and accents in the same shade give the place a sophisticated ambience.
For the whole week starting Valentine’s Day, Buenisimo offers set menus and an a la carte selection of appetizers, main course, and desserts.
- 24 Scout Tuazon Street, Barangay Laging Handa, Diliman, Quezon City
- Tel. No. 410-5050

Don’t let the glass windows that overlook a green landscape fool you: Mateo’s Restaurant Café is not in Tagaytay but just in Quezon City. Depending on the table setting or the spot you choose, your Valentine dining experience can go from nearly formal to laid-back casual. The chairs seem to be all the same until you pull them out from under the table and see the different combinations of prints on the upholstery fabric. The walls veer from the usual plain white bricks and instead come in a neutral palette with varying tones, giving the interiors a unique texture.
For this Valentine weekend, their menu offers a choice between lamb or steak and prawns.
- 54 N. Domingo Avenue, Barangay Horseshoe Village, Quezon City

If you and your date are into organic stuff, check out Adaäm and Yves Organic Bistro. It takes pride in serving the cleanest and freshest ingredients for the menu, and we can’t help but use the same adjectives for its interiors. The raw concrete walls, slim furniture, and wire accessories give the place an unfinished feel, adding to its charm.
