If you’re stumped for ideas on how to decorate your own home (and Pinterest suddenly seems boring), why not look to design and craft offices for a bit of inspiration?

Far from the cookie-cutter-cubicles of old, design offices and other creative headquarters often have the most amazing solutions to space, storage, and style because both boss and employee think out of the box. Here are some cool office ideas that will shake up your decorating style.

Your space should reflect your personality.

Hey Kessy craft maven Mansy Abesamis fills her laidback studio with pieces that reflect her line of work and personality. Pastel buntings hang from the ceiling, postcards, sketches, and other inspiration pegs adorn the walls, and craft materials and tools (of course) are organized neatly on catchalls on top of her pinewood desk.

Make the first room you’ll see the most impressive.

Your receiving room (most likely your living room) should be the most impressive space and showcase your personal style. Interior and furniture design office Heim Interior’s receiving area has all the brand’s trademark looks: typography, eye-popping pattern, iconic chairs, rose-quartz-pink, and Heima’s hip and urban, space-saving furniture pieces.

A mural can liven up any space.

This fanciful mural at the Heim Interiors office adds a fun and playful vibe to the computer area. Even a simple mural can liven up a plain wall, or a dreary area. Don’t have the money to hire an artist? Just trace a simple, linear pattern on the wall, and paint in color blocks using contrasting hues.

Define an area with a witty divider.

Graphic design studio TeamManila’s silkscreening room (where they silkscreen their iconic, cool t-shirts) is defined from the rest of the office by a glass divider printed with a makeshift calendar. “We wanted it to be spacious but still have divisions for each department,” says Jowee Alviar. “We always wanted it to have an industrial look with clean lines.”

Color-code your books.

TeamManila has loads of graphic design books for pegs and reference. “Inspiration is a must,” says Jowee. “We invest heavily in design and art books.” If you have tons of books at home, organize it visually by putting same-colored spines together. This will make it look neater on the shelves.

Dining is for family.

At Space Encounters’ design headquarters, interior designer Wilmer Lopez made the pantry area one of the biggest spaces in the office—it’s a place where the “space cadets” eat, meet up to discuss projects, or simply to hang out. “We need more space kasi ang pantry namin dati ang liit, and we have thirty people,” says Wilmer. The long dining table is fitted out with mismatched dining chairs, all with the mid-century Space Encounters vibe.

You can eat from a small ledge.

The kitchen of Space Encounters, which is an extension of the pantry, features a long, concrete ledge that’s perfect for quick coffee breaks. This could be a simple, space-saving way to incorporate a breakfast nook or dining area into a really tight studio kitchen.

And a pegboard will save the day.

At the Morfosis office, interior designers Pai Edles and Misty Floro brought along their trusty pegboard from their old office. A common pegboard from the hardware store can become a spot to hang items, post memos, display live plants, and even become a home control center. “We want to have that vibe—people can hang out and chill,” says Misty.
