Now that the kids have welcomed another exciting school year, it's time to create an organized area at home where they can study and focus on school work. If you're thinking of transforming a corner or extra room at home into a study space, here are eight must-haves that you may want to consider.

Sturdy desk

Choose a slim yet sturdy piece that you can place against the wall. Opt for a table with drawers so your kids can have a space for pens, paper, and other essentials.

Lighting

Storage

According to interior designer Hannah Acab-Faustino, the study area has a tendency to always be cluttered given your kids' numerous reading materials and supplies. Avoid clutter by having storage bins where can place coloring materials, notebooks, and references. Label each bin properly so they'll know where to get and return the items.

Memo Board

Never miss an important deadline, meeting, or test with a fun corkboard where they can stick reminders and photos.

Comfy Chair

Pick a chair that matches the style of your table. Do not decide on aesthetics alone! Make sure that it's a piece that can help your kids feel relaxed while reading or reviewing notes. It should also provide adequate back support.

If you're buying a plain chair, you can always decorate it with washi tape. You can work with different designs and patterns.

Décor

Put interesting framed prints and photos on the table as well as some of your kids' favorite things. An encouraging quote or wall art is also a welcome addition to the space.

While adding cute and charming pieces is fun, you should also avoid clutter! Pick only the best items that you can put on display.

 Trash bin

Place a basket near the table so scratch papers and other clutter can be disposed of ASAP.
