You may have read it more than thrice, a clean and organized countertop can help you move around the kitchen easily and in turn, finish tasks efficiently. If you're one of the many who still want to add a bit of pizzazz to this part of the cooking space without sacrificing function, minimal decor and smart styling can go a long way. Take inspiration from these setups found in different homes:

1. Distribute your decor pieces.

If you have a spacious kitchen—similar to this U-shaped space found in a Laguna home—you can add mini setups in different corners. Place a basket of fruits on the righthand part, a vignette of utensils in the middle, and a potted plant at the other end. Doing this distributes the colors and won't create a busy, cramped look.

2. Raise it up.

Those who have tiny kitchens to work with don't have to worry about space for decor. You can install brass rods and use it to hold your chosen decor, accessories, and cute utensils. You may leave a bottle or a jar repurposed into a soap dispenser, too.

3. Showcase your favorites on shelves.

When it comes to awkward corners and niches, mini open shelves can save the day. In this kitchen, only a bowl of fruits and a knife holder were left on the counter. The rest of the decor (and jars of ingredients) are displayed using wall-mounted shelves. This option doesn't just keep your work area clutter-free, it makes use of the available vertical space, too.

4. Make a statement with plants.

Extra counter space is crucial—especially if it also serves as a breakfast nook. Keep it simple with a punch of style by working with plants. A vignette of succulents or your mini herb garden can be placed in the middle to serve as an accent piece. Clear the rest of the counter and make use of cabinets to store your cooking essentials.

5. Stick to the basics.

What are the must-haves that you often see on the kitchen counter? Perhaps you have the dishwashing essentials, a washcloth, a roll of paper towel, and liquid hand soap. Given these items, it's best to keep them in one tray. Place the tray in a corner by the sink to keep the look neat. If you still have space to spare, you can also add two small potted plants as decor.

6. Curate a stunning vignette.

Many homeowners would rather have one eye-catching setup instead of going for various decorative elements. Take your cue from this airy kitchen—a bowl of fruits, tiny knickknacks, and your choice of succulents can go in one beautiful container. Place your creation in the middle for everyone to see and appreciate.
