5 Work Space Ideas For Your Small Home
You can always squeeze one in!
If you work at home and you live in a small space, creating a home office might be a challenge. Don’t worry, you can still have one, and a stylish one at that. Here are some tips:
1. Go for a floating desk.
You don’t always have to furnish your work space with a hefty wooden desk. If you have a small space, go for a floating desk, like what interior designer Evangeline Lim did in this bedroom.
2. Do away with the swivel chair.
You can use a beautiful accent chair as your seating piece in your work area. In this home office designed by architect Allen Oblena, an upholstered armchair goes well with the feminine, modern-classic look of the space. A framed “family tree” of famous designers makes for a one-of-a-kind decor.
3. Separate your mini work area with a slim wall or divider.
You don’t have to enclose your home office in aroom. Here in this condo unit, a frosted glass panel separates the work station from the sleeping area. Had the divider been solid wood or had there been another room for the work station, this condo unit might have looked cramped.
4. Place your home office by the window.
Natural light does wonders to make a home office look less daunting. The beautiful French windows in this vignette even create shadows that add some drama.
5. Go for glam.
Make your office a cut above the rest by choosing old-world pieces like this vintage desk and French accent chair. This space was designed by Joel Salazar and Paul Baes of Lucina Home for a home-based jewelry designer.
