5 Ways To Use Food And Fashion Accessories As Decor

Your next table centerpiece may just be hiding in your closet

When you have a party, you often put a simple floral arrangement as your centerpiece. If you have a buffet table, the star of the table is usually a cake (for birthday parties) or a bowl of punch. Be more imaginative—raid your closet and bring out fashion accessories that you can actually use to decorate your table. Here are some ideas:

1. Use your shawls and scarves to dress up your dining chairs.

This is a stylish alternative to the usual white or black cloth covering monoblock chairs during parties. You can actually create a theme out of your shawls! If you have pieces with tie-dye prints and festive colors, you might want to try a boho-themed party, while  neutral colors like beige and ecru may work great in a Filipiniana-themed party.

2. Use fruits as colorful centerpieces.

Group fruits according to kind or color and place them in separate clear bowls or vases. Aside from adding color to your table, they make the vibe festive, too.

3. Use your handkerchiefs as table napkins.

You don’t have to buy new table napkins for your party—colorful hankies do the job just as well. Use your brooches as napkin rings.

4. Use fruits as place card holders.

Simply put the name of your guest on the fruit using a toothpick. It’s fast and easy, and your guest can eat the fruit afterward.

5. Add pebbles.

Tone down the abundance of colors by scattering white pebbles on the table. They give an additional organic element and texture to your table setup.
