1. Prepare the tables and chairs. A square table is great for most games. If what you have in hand is a glass-topped table, line the surface with felt (cut to fit the tabletop) to make it more play-friendly. Keep the fabric in place with double-sided tape.
2. Make a snack bar. A makeshift snack bar will save you from making trips to and from the kitchen. Have small bowls handy so you won’t have to pass that bag of chips around. Keep the bowls dust-free by stacking them inside a round plastic container. Use your picnic cooler to store ice for your drinks.
3. Utilize floor space. No square tables available in the room? A coffee table on a plush rug is a comfy alternative to a table and chairs. Throw pillows on the floor will up the comfort factor, and you can almost never have too many.
4. Keep essentials organized. In a caddy or basket, organize paper, pens, pencils and other supplies you might need for games—a calculator, pencil sharpener, and even an hourglass or timer are some items you might consider.
5. Have ample storage. Sure, they’re fun, but board games can easily clutter up a space. Keep things neat and tidy by storing them in crates or large baskets. This also allows for quick and easy hauling—just pick up the container and go.
Your pet can join in the fun, too!
