After a long day outside, it's always rejuvenating to see hints of green at home. Aside from prettifying your space with plants, a few pots here and there will give your haven a calming vibe and even help purify the air.

If you already have a couple of affordable indoor plants occupying a small pocket garden or your balcony, you may want to explore other ways on how to complete a green takeover that you and your guests would appreciate. Here are five ideas to explore and try:

1. Use plants as bookends.

Does a floor-to-ceiling shelf serves as your home's focal point? Aside from filling it with books, magazines, and fancy decor pieces, you can take it a notch higher by using plants as bookends. To do this, you can work with small glass jars or recycled mason jars. Repot your plants into these containers and make sure it's heavy enough with smooth pebbles and stones. Once you're done, you can use your finished projects as bookends for hardbound books or a group of your favorite paperback novels.

2. Let them float and steal the show.

Got a plain window at home? Aside from depending on printed and colorful curtains, you can make it extra beautiful by crafting a floating shelf and using it to display two to three potted succulents. Use recycled wood and twine for a rustic touch and display your plants using white ceramic planters for an elegant look.

3. Update your foyer with a ladder shelf and your chosen indoor plants.

We all know that first impressions last and what better way to capture the attention of visitors than with a lovely vignette featuring plants and quirky planters? SB Furniture has a similar ladder shelf that you can purchase. You may also want to visit Our Home and Mandaue Foam for options.

Once your shelf is ready, consider if you'd want to repaint it white or keep it as is—make sure it works well with home's palette. After finalizing the look of your shelf, start filling it with succulents, cacti, and even vases filled with flowers. There are no rules on how you want to decorate it—experiment and play around with a final look. Choose planters in varying heights to add interest to your vignette.

4. Liven up the table with a tray of plants.

Don't limit yourself to a plate of treats or a jar of cookies as your dining table centerpiece! Make this part of the home extra relaxing by filling a round tray with potted plants. To add depth and dimension to your display, you may want to work with a recycled cupcake stand. Turn it into a charming piece by repainting the tray or stand in pastel pink. Complete the quirky and playful look of your setup by working with patterned and colorful planters.

5. Line up the steps with plants.

Does your home have a short flight of steps that lead to the main door? Keep it pretty and regal by placing a planter on each step. A copper piece gives a touch of elegance and it blends well with green, too! As an alternative, you can also use planters to adorn the wall in the living area.
