It's safe to say that it has become common practice to stream or download the shows and movies we watch, thanks to subscriptions like Netflix, iflix and HOOQ. However, there was a time when we collected DVDs to be able to see our favorite films again—some of these even have sentimental value to us and it can be difficult to part with them. To make sure your collection doesn't just gather dust in the closet, here are different ways on how you can store them:

1. Use office filing boxes.

This is the simplest and the cheapest option for organizing your movies! You can buy several filing boxes and label them by genre before sorting your DVDs accordingly.

2. Maximize wall shelving.

If you have unused space above your television set, you can utilize it to display the titles that you own. No need to spend a lot for it, too—you can DIY your own floating shelf with bracket mounted systems that are available in most hardware stores.

3. Choose CD sleeves over DVD cases.

Instead of keeping everything in bulky hardcases, opt for CD sleeves so you can keep more titles even without the need for additional space. Label each sleeve using colorful markers to keep you from losing copies of your favorite movies.

RL Tip: You can buy CD sleeves in bulk here

4. Use multi-disc albums.

For a real space-saving option, consider ditching cases altogether and using multi-disc albums instead. Since these look like ordinary photo books, you can easily disguise your DVDs as part of your hardcover shelf.

RL Tip: You can get your hands on these multi-disc albums via eBay

5. Make the most of the space under your coffee table.

Instead of housing dust bunnies under your center table, convert the space into handy DVD storage. Use wooden palettes or printed boxes to avoid ruining the overall look of your living area.
