5 Ways to Enjoy a Romantic Date at Home

Avoid the traffic and stay far from the madding crowd with these lovely ideas

The scene looks very familiar. You head out, sit through hours of traffic, and arrive at your favorite restaurant— only to be greeted by a line of people waiting to be seated. While you can book a table in advance and visit your favorite hangout earlier than usual, you might also want to consider celebrating V-Day at home. This option has a lot of benefits—you get to enjoy some quiet time, keep things within budget, and bond over simple yet memorable activities.

Transform your home into a blissful getaway where you can just be yourselves and have fun:

Your balcony is the perfect spot for a candlelit dinner. Prep the table by adding a runner or chic placemats. You can also add a small potted plant or a vase of fresh flowers to achieve a restaurant feel.

How do you make this scene extra cozy? Decorate the nook with rose petals and a tray of scented candles in one corner. Add extra lights overhead for a whimsical touch.

Got a garden? Soak up some sun and enjoy the outdoors by having a picnic! You would need mats, comfy pillows, and a table for the food and drinks. You may want to do this early in the morning or around the afternoon when the sun is about to set. Don't forget to bring a mosquito repellent too!

Staying in means getting to enjoy the comforts of home. One of the simplest ways to enjoy Valentine's Day would have to be a fun movie night complete with popcorn, soda, and sweets. Cozy up the living area by adding rugs and bringing out the extra pillows and throws.

Since you'll be eating while watching, it's best to have tissues, extra drinks, and a hand sanitizer ready on the side table. Our recommended flicks? Make sure you check out 10 Things I Hate About You, The Mirror Has Two Faces, Love Actually, and When Harry Met Sally.

Spice things up by choosing game night over cheesy dinners! After all, a little bit of competition won't hurt! Turn the lanai into a makeshift "arena" of sorts and bring out the board games. Make it fun by playing a round of Scrabble, poker, and maybe even Cards Against Humanity.

If you've done the activities above and you still have time to spare, you can cap off the day with something sweet! Get a recipe from the Internet and try your hand at baking. Have fun mixing ingredients and don't forget to rate your finished product.

After all is said and done, get some rest and reward yourselves with glasses of wine.
