Have you heard Christmas songs playing on the radio lately? Since the holiday season starts early in our country, you may want to work on simple home decorating projects to bring some cheer and liven up your space.

Aside from cleaning the Christmas tree, checking the lights, and preparing your well-loved decor, you may want to work with pine cones. A few of these tiny yet captivating pieces all over the home are enough to make you feel the warmth of the jolly season. Let these ideas inspire you:

1. Paint them and scatter them all over the house.

While pine cones are already beautiful as is, you may want to get creative by painting them in different colors like blue, aqua, orange, and yellow. To keep up with the holiday theme, you can stick to white, red, and green. Once you're done adding touches of color to your cones, place three inside catchalls and place them in the living area, dining room, and even in the kitchen.

RL Tip: Consider placing your painted pine cones on windowsills too!

2. Work with ribbons and strings.

Looking for a new way to spruce up your tree? Screw tiny hooks onto your cones, tie some ribbons, and use them as trimmings. You can also use your finished projects to decorate moldings, doors, and even windows!

3. Create a centerpiece.

Whether you're decorating the living area or dining room, a well-thought-out centerpiece can capture the attention of guests. To achieve a holiday-inspired centerpiece, fill a glass jar or three mason jars with a mix of Christmas balls, faux Poinsettias, and pine cones. You have the option to tie ribbons or twine around the jars to complete the look.

RL Tip: For a clean and styled look, you can place your jars in a pretty tray and fill it with extra pine cones for an extra charming touch.

4. Go DIY and create a garland.

Make your guests feel the love and Christmas cheer by hanging a pine cone garland on your front door. It's quite easy to accomplish—all you need is a free weekend, 50 to 80 pine cones (this depends on how big you want your garland to be), wire or twine, and a pair of scissors.

You can attach the pine cones individually or group two to three pieces together using wire before adding it to your twine. For a complete guide, click here.

RL Tip: You can also update your old Christmas wreath by gluing five or more pine cones around it.

5. Create chic candleholders.

To get your creative juices flowing and save on cash, you may want to recycle and upcycle when it comes to crafting decor! Old mason jars can be brought to life once again with twine, painted pine cones, and votive candles.

Achieve a winter-inspired piece by spray painting your pine cones in white. Once you're done, attach them onto your twine using wire. Wrap the twine around the jar and place the candle inside. To make it extra special, add spray painted faux leaves inside. Display your snowy project in the living area or as part of your dining table centerpiece.
