5 Ways to Cozy Up Your Bedroom
Since summer is almost here, here are easy ways to ensure a relaxing and comfy room
As early as March, the weather’s already getting warmer – signaling the start of the summer season. While some dread the heat, most of us look forward to going to the beach to soak up some sun.
If a trip to the beach is not YET on your list of must-dos in the coming weeks, interior designer Leslie Ledesma shares these easy tips to turn your bedroom into a cozy space perfect for some quality “me” time; where you can also rejuvenate.

Nothing beats the feeling of sleeping with crisp and clean sheets! Invest on soft, hotel-grade linen as these items help upgrade the mood in your room. “There are lots of prints and textures to choose from. This summer season, you may use your fun and colorful linen. If you want a clean look, you may use your white, lacy ones,” shares Leslie.
Do some DIY and add character your space by adding fun wall patterns! You don’t need to paint your room ASAP, consider adding patterns such as stripes, chevron, and two-tones. It is best to use stencils to create a consistent pattern. You may also opt for summer-themed wallpaper.
Creating a new look doesn’t always mean buying new pieces. Consider the layout of your room and mix it up a bit. Find out which pieces can switch places and if you can place your extra shelves somewhere else in the room.
“Doing this will help you maximize your room as well as make use of open spaces for extra storage. Proper planning is a must so it’s best to give this some thought to achieve a free-flowing layout,” Leslie suggests.
If you’re dropping by thrift stores anytime soon, be on the lookout for old antique doors or cabinets which can be turned into a unique headboard. You can easily have these pieces repainted or you may also opt to add charming decals.
For those who prefer a soft padded headboard, tufted ones are no-fail choices. Consider adding decorative brass nails and create a pattern for a more sophisticated touch.
A private nook gives you a proper space where you can enjoy a good book or drink a cup of coffee to while away sunny afternoons.
“Consider adding a comfortable chair, a side table, and a lamp to your seating area. Choose a space in your room where you can have a good view of the outdoors – preferably in the corner so you can enjoy a little uninterrupted and quality “me” time.
