Mix and match your dinnerware

Experiment with your table settings! Pair plates in solid colors with neutral-colored pieces. Consider working with colors like cobalt blue or fiery red as these can also serve as accents in the dining area.

Add a cushion to your chair

Make a quick change by tying on washable cushions to your chairs. However, if you can’t find a perfect cushion, you can craft one on your own. Get a half-yard fabric, cut it two inches around the shape of the cushion, then tuck in the ends before fastening it underneath.

Opt for unexpected décor

You don’t have to add expensive vases and pots to create an elegant tableau! You can play with proportion to create a modern setup. Instead of placing flowers in the usual glass vases, try using everyday things like tin cans or teapots. There are different ideas that you can do.

RL Tip: Fresh flowers can complete your centerpiece. Click here for ideas.

Add a plastic table cover

Consider using a plastic tablecloth for your dining table as it doesn't look as heavy as the opaque ones. Plastic covers are also affordable and easy to clean.

RL Tip: If available, you may also experiment with transparent tablecloths with fun and quirky designs.

Use new lighting

A good lighting fixture can help set the mood during meals. Consider hanging two or three lanterns in one corner or above the table to add character to a plain room.
