When Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach passed the crown to the new Miss Universe Philippines last night, we thought Candidate 29 looked familiar. After learning that Maxine Medina is a graduate of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID), we immediately reviewed our archives and saw a photo from two years ago—in a special feature on the 2014 PSID Graduation Exhibit entitled “Globalscapes.”

Since we’re also excited about her preparation for the next Miss Universe pageant and we’d love to know more about her, we checked her Instagram account for tidbits. Aside from designing inviting spaces, this young lady also takes lovely photos and has a passion for traveling. Here are five more things that you need to know:

She once designed a space inspired by Mexico

The Globalscapes exhibit featured different spaces inspired by the art, architecture, and culture of different countries. Maxine and her groupmates were assigned to design a space inspired by Mexico.

To showcase a fun and colorful life, they came up with a room that features rustic finishes, fun colors, and captivating shapes.
