A limited floor area should never discourage you from making a beautiful, comfortable, and well-planned home. If anything, the size of your space should simply challenge you to be more creative! With this in mind, architect Allen Oblena was extra motivated to turn a bare 60sqm loft-type condo into a cozy second home for a retired, Baguio-based couple.

The Gray Walls in the Living Area

For a chic and clean look, we often recommend pristine white walls. However, white walls can feel stark and almost clinical.

If you would like to try a different color, you should consider light gray. Gray walls can serve as a neutral backdrop and seem elegant and sophisticated.

The Seat Under the Stairs

If you have space underneath the stairs, you may want to use it as a quiet corner for reading and relaxing. You can furnish the nook with a statement chair and a table lamp on a side table.

The Streamlined Kitchen and Dining Area

For an unexpected look, you can complement modern elements with traditional furniture pieces. In this kitchen and dining area, the minimalist cupboards and drawers are paired with classic dining chairs.

RL Tip: If you want to mix and match items from different styles, you should use earth shades and neutral hues.

The Modern Tropical Feel in the Bedroom

For a modern tropical feel in your personal space, you can try to use vibrant greens, bleached wooden tones, and touches of white. Bright green stands out against light wood and clean white.

The Corner Home Office

If you often work from home, you may want to set up a table and chair near a window! Look for an antique desk, a unique chair, and interesting decor.

In this home office, we were impressed by the table lamp with a printed shade and a curvy base. We also liked the charming red toy camera and the lavender blooms in a simple vase.
