After moving into a new home, the next challenge would be completing the space with furniture. While we'd like to keep costs low, it pays to invest in quality furniture pieces that can last for a long time.

Interior designer Peaches de-Guzman Grey shares a list of pieces that's worth splurging on.

Bed

It’s always recommended to purchase a sturdy bed frame and a high-quality mattress. When buying a bed frame, make sure you examine the frame by checking if the joints are tightly framed.

Lighting

Did you know that bad lighting in your home can affect your overall eye vision? It’s okay to splurge on light fixtures, as long as it can illuminate your home. You can also purchase energy-saving LED lights, to help the environment while keeping your electric bill low.

Chairs and Tables

“Anthropometrics play a very important role when it comes to our posture. So stop straining your back and splurge on office chairs and tables with proper heights,” Peaches says. Make sure that you purchase a chair that allows you and your family to feel comfortable.

Storage

Opt for multipurpose pieces that can be used as an accent piece, such as a storage ottoman or a sofa bed. “Choose the materials carefully as good storage systems can actually last a lifetime,” Peaches adds.
