5 New Ideas for Starter Homes
Discover ways on how to improve your new space
Safety and storage are two of the most important factors that you must consider when building a starter home. Once you've secured these two, you can now work on the other elements of the house. Create a fun and comfortable space with these ideas.
Maximize an extra room
If you have an extra room at home like an attic or spare bedroom, you can turn it into a playroom for kids or a storage/work area. Creating a playroom means childproofing the entire area. Make sure that you remove all sharp objects and that the floor has a mat.
You may also convert the extra room into a work space. You can keep closets and cabinets in the room as well as turn it into an ironing area. Doing this means making sure that the room is well-ventilated and has enough space to accommodate cabinets.
Consider secret passages
You can still keep an eye out for your children even if they are in another room. You may have an adjoining room that's accessible via a sliding door that's installed in the master bedroom.
Install a message board in the kitchen
Instead of leaving notes on the refrigerator, you may opt to have a whiteboard or DIY note board on one plain wall. You can stick notes and even write menus and recipes.
Add a lounging area in the bedroom
If you have kids and they love staying in your bedroom, you can create a charming and cozy corner where they can stay and relax. You may add a daybed or a small couch with a couple of fluffy pillows.
Create a family room
Make sure you dedicate a spare where the whole family can indulge in hobbies and bonding activities. Complete the space with shelves, comfy chairs, and pillows. Storage is important so you can keep board games and other essentials organized.
