Every homeowner daydreams of having a perfectly furnished abode complete with designer pieces and lacquered closets—however, once the cost of these items start lurking in your mind, you're bound to be jolted back to the real world in no time. Thankfully, there are a lot of places you can visit that can satisfy your craving for a design upgrade at rooted-in-reality prices. Check out some of them below:

Dapitan Arcade

Though the selection is limited, Dapitan Arcade is still worth the trip. It is especially great if you're on the hunt for dining essentials such as plates, serving bowls, salt and pepper shakers or ceramic wares that don't go beyond P400. Haggling is allowed so you can save even more money than expected. Don't forget to be on the lookout for baskets and decorative boxes, too!

Kanlaon cor. Dapitan street, Quezon City. You can call them at 732-5685.

Evangelista Street and Bangkal Area, Makati

Popular for being Makati's segunda-mano district, this spot features stores that sell a hodgepodge of items. Small to medium-sized furniture pieces normally go for less than P6,000 while bespoke antiques don't usually go above P9,000. Haggling is encouraged, so try bidding for ridiculously low prices upfront.

Saizen

From plastic storage containers to paper lanterns, a blinding assortment of home must-haves and small toys, you can find almost anything in the first official Philippine branch of the popular 100-Yen franchise, Daiso. Its 800sqm space is brimming with quality items that range from P88 to P180—it can be quite easy to end hoarding things you don't need so make sure to assess everything before lining up at the check-out counter.

3/L Robinsons Galleria, EDSA, Quezon City. You can call them at 636-7995.

Ylaya and Tabora streets, Manila

Whether you're a crafting pro or you just enjoy trying your hand at DIY, don't miss out on exploring the al fresco stalls along Ylaya and Tabora streets. This is the best place to shop for the cheapest rolls of ribbons, beads of every kind and color and any type of fabric you can think of. There are also ready-made pillowcases and rugs for a quarter of the department store price.

Kamuning Street, Quezon City

Traverse that block sandwiched between EDSA and Tomas Morato and you'll find secondhand shops that sell antique furniture and objects that exude Victorian-French flair. While the chandeliers, vases, and glass sets for sale aren't dirt-cheap, you're sure to get value for your money as most of them can't be found anywhere else.
