Is it your first time to decorate a home? We all know how daunting it can be to style a space without a design background, but just like cleaning or doing the laundry, it's something we have to do to personalize our safe haven. Accomplish this task while avoiding disasters with these ideas:

1. Treat your home as one cohesive space.

If you’ve decided to go with a studio or any open layout space, why not face the fact and treat it like one? With the living, dining, and bedroom all in one space, you can avoid partitions entirely—this trick can make your home look a lot bigger, too!

2. Minimize furniture pieces per area.

If you’re only starting out, the reality is you probably don’t have everything you need yet. If so, it’s best to go for pieces that do double duty such as ottomans that come with storage or tiny tables that transform into bigger dining spaces.

3. Go mono.

If you aren’t confident with making drastic color choices yet, a monochromatic palette is the way to go. Another proven color scheme is white accented with unique pops of color!

4. Create a focal point.

Give your home some pizzaz by choosing an area you can go all out with. If you want something minimal, consider going for an accent wall while for more character, you can go with a personalized vignette or a gallery wall.

5. Make an entrance.

Regardless of how small or big your space is, don’t forget to create a mini foyer or an entrance hallway where guests can glide in as they enter your humble abode. Doing so ensures that they won't end up next to your bed. This is the perfect spot to display artwork and décor as well.
